Leadership

President & CEO

Patricia A. Zachman has served as the President & CEO (formerly Executive Director) of the Women’s Center since 1993. She received her M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of New Hampshire in 1980 and has over 35 years of management, counseling and program development experience. During her tenure, she has overseen the Center’s expansion of services provided to adults and children, established satellite service sites to better meet the needs of victims in the Center’s southern Litchfield and lower Fairfield County service towns, and formally partnered with Western Connecticut State University to provide domestic violence and sexual assault direct and educational services to the entire campus community.

In addition to her responsibilities with the Center, Pat has served as President and member of the Board of Directors of the statewide Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence; served on the Steering Committee of the Greater Danbury area Coalition Against Domestic Violence; was a founding member of the Executive Committee of the Executive Forum in partnership with Western Connecticut State University; served as a member of the Board of Commissioners for CityCenter Danbury; and participated in a variety of other community coalitions and collaborative efforts.

Chief Operating Officer

Suzanne Adam joined the Women Center team in January 2016. Suzanne has 15 years of experience delivering and leading services for victims of domestic violence. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, fundraising, community mobilization, leadership, operations, and program development.

Prior to joining the Women's Center, she served as a Director of Domestic Abuse Services, had a thriving Play Therapy private practice and was an elementary school teacher. Suzanne holds a psychology degree from Sacred Heart University and is a Registered Play Therapist. Her awards include Senators Community Foundation Candy Necklace Award and Liberty Bell Award for her work in domestic violence.

Director, Administration & Human Resources

Cheryl Kunst joined the Women’s Center as Office Manager in 2008. Today, she is the Director of Administration & Human Resources, working closely with the other management team members and administrative staff & volunteers. She also manages all of the Women's Center's social media and public relations. She holds a B.A. in English from San Diego State University.

Director of Finance

William Montero joined the Women's Center in January 2017. As Director of Finance, he is responsible for all financial matters of the Organization. William comes to us with 25 years of financial experience, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Dental Associates of CT. He brings a dynamic skill set which includes strategic planning, treasury management, financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting. He has the ability to work across all functional groups to solve operational and financial issues and facilitate balanced decisions. William holds a B.A. in Accounting from Western Connecticut State University.

Development Director

Samantha Conetta Flynn joined the Women’s Center in August 2012. As Development Director she plans, coordinates and directs all development activities and major fundraising events, as well as assists with communications and outreach projects. She holds a B.A. from Western Connecticut State University, a certificate in Fundraising from New York University and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Public Administration through Marist College.


annheadshot2Ann Rodwell-Lawton
Director of Education, Training & Outreach

Ann earned her Master's in Social Work from Hunter College with a concentration in community organization, planning and development. She is certified as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor, and has extensive knowledge of primary prevention programming. Previously, Ann was a Community Educator at the D.C. Rape Crisis Center where she conducted child sexual abuse prevention presentations in the community, reaching over 8,000 children per year. She also has experience facilitating sexual health workshops and trainings to develop political advocacy skills. Ann has been trained in many evidence-based programs, including Safe Dates and Shifting Boundaries. 

As the Director of Education, Training and Outreach, Ann manages scheduling of all programs in the community and provides strategic direction for the department. Ann also serves as the Center's Legislative Liaison and oversees the Center's advocacy efforts on state-level policy issues.

More than 23,000 adults and children benefit from the Women's Center education and training programs annually. Our programs are provided to a wide range of audiences, customized to suit the age group and special interests of the particular audience. And with the exception of a few corporate trainings, all programs are free!

  • Preschool to 1st Grade - puppetry, art, music, story-telling to teach children how to be safe
  • 2nd to 5th Grade - bullying, safe touching, Internet safety
  • Middle & High School - empowerment, leadership, healthy relationships
  • College - campus safety, training for fraternity/sorority organizations, athletes, residential halls
